hieroglyphics

Where can I find (online or on paper) a dictionary of all the strange little symbols that cover electrical equipment and the like?

What you mean precisely? Do you have a picture of an example?

yes, I probably wasn't very clear.

I mean things like these signs that you might find on a washing machine (or clothing labels), or the symbols on a cooker showing grill, oven, etc. Or the play/skip/record symbols you will find on an mp3 player.

ah, thanks. That first one looks interesting. I was thinking more about household than industrial things, but that certainly has a lot of symbols.

Do you mean appliance classes and/or CE conformance for the European market and/or the USA's equivalent Underwriters Laboratories mark?

I was thinking more of symbols for information and control (like the play button on an audio player, for instance), also safety compliance marks should also count, I guess.
