Date: 2007-09-25 03:25 pm (UTC)Why hasn't it happened already? And why was Aung San Suu Kyi allowed out to greet them?
Maybe the authorities are letting things escalate because they fancy a nice, big bloodbath, I guess.

Date: 2007-09-25 05:21 pm (UTC)There must be something strange going on amidst the rulers there. Maybe some of the generals want to stage a putsch of their own within the existing regime, and piggybacking on this lets them climb to the top while looking like good people. Or perhaps they're afraid that (parts of) the army wouldn't follow an order to attack the demonstrations.
It's reaching the point where even a bloodbath gets tricky. 100,000 people: that's a lot of bullets, and a lot of bodies to get rid of. Maybe they just screwed up somehow.
