It's an interesting point. The Liberal Democrat party is far more democratic in terms of policy making than the Labour or Conservative parties. Due to this the leader has a lot less control over the party's policies than in other parties so the leaders skills at leading and promoting the party become a bit more important than their policy stances.
OK, that is interesting, and I don't much care about policy differences between Clegg and Huhne.
But since this is the only media exposure the party is likely to have for a while, shouldn't they be taking the chance to shout from the rooftops about *something*? Preferably something that will win them some supporters. But the closest they get is saying stuff like 'we have good policies on civil liberties', without saying what those policies are.
The upshot is that you look as though you don't have any policies, and you're just trolling for protest votes. Which I don't think is true - but only because of Lib Dems I know in person.
Don't you have a set of talking points to try and push into the media whenever you get a chance? And isn't one of the main criteria for being a good leader the ability to present the party platform so that people have some idea what you stand for?
There'd be no point anyway. To get into power, they need to give a knee-jerk reactionary response to whatever happens three months before the next general election.
